Haptic Responses to Angry and Happy Faces

The present aim was to investigate if angry, neutral, and happy facial expressions have different effects on haptic responses. Two experiments were conducted. In Experiment 1, participants (N = 24) respond as fast they could images of faces using a device that measured the amount applied force in newton units duration touch milliseconds. 2 identical except ratings emotion-related experiences evoked by stimuli also collected terms valence arousal. results from both studies showed response angry significantly stronger than expressions. experienced statistically each other along dimension valence. Ratings arousal more arousing neutral faces. suggest relationship between processing systems. be used one measures conveying information about user’s state mind when interacting with user interfaces.
